We love our eReaders, but I wager there are more than a few of us who still prefer the look, the smell, and the feel of a physical book in our hands. That is just one of several reasons all my bestselling stories are being released in large print.
In committing to such a task, I cannot help but reflect on the early days of my publishing career when selling print books was far more rewarding. The charts shown below, which are based on my book sales on Amazon alone from 2012 through 2018, depict the shift in my readers’ preferences.
With such a trend as this, why am I so excited about releasing my work in large print? Given that most of my stories are available in digital, audio, and regular print formats, I feel I would be remiss not to offer large print as well. That I can do so with so little trouble to myself is a bonus.
Paperbacks, in general, may never comprise a significant portion of my book sales. Large print, specifically, may never be in considerable demand. But just in case the market for the latter grows, I’ll be prepared.
In truth, if I only hear from one reader that having access to my stories in large print paperback is beneficial, I will be exceedingly happy because for every reader who shares his or her sentiments, there are at least a few more whose opinions, though unexpressed, are very much the same.
