Our Very First Audio Book + Giveaway!

Our Very First Audio Book + Giveaway!

Hello Everyone!

Some of you may already know that Renata and I have an audio book version of our variation From Ashes to Heiresses out now, narrated by the incomparable Catherine Bilson. From Ashes to Heiresses is one of our shorter works, a novelette or short story, depending on your definitions, though not the shortest of our works. To be honest, this was on purpose. Even with Catherine doing all she could to help us keep costs down, audio books are expensive to make. As we had absolutely no idea if anyone wanted audio books from us, we selected our shortest work that we feel has a good general appeal (not Christmas themed, for example) and that embodies what are newer work is like (as we both feel that, with practice, we’ve improved in how we write together). In essence, much like when we did a couple large print books last year, the From Ashes to Heiresses audio book is an experiment.

It’s going fantastically well. You’ve all be so supportive. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt that Catherine is an amazing reader. She could read off my list of daily chores and it would sound wonderful (which would probably make doing them nicer).

To celebrate both our From Ashes to Heiresses audio book and how well you’ve all received it, we’re holding a giveaway. We’re giving away 15 free copies in the US and 15 free copies in the UK* To enter, just comment below, telling us if you need a US or UK code.

*We are so very sorry they don’t let us give away free copies in other countries, we truly are. Please let me know if you know of a way to give copies to non US and UK listeners – summer@summerhanford.com.

Try this sample of our From Ashes to Heiresses Audio Book!

As an aside, it’s likely that the next story we’d consider putting out as an audio book would be either our new novelette, Their Secret Love or our novel, Hypothetically Married. So, when you comment below, let us know if you would rather listen to an audio version of Their Secret Love or of Hypothetically Married. Also, if you can, let us know if you need a US or UK code. If you can’t get a code but still want to show your support for Their Secret Love or Hypothetically Married as an audio book, we’d love to know that as well.

Thank you all so much for your support and feedback. We very much appreciate it!

~ Summer

*Giveaway runs from February 13th to February 27th. Winners will be announced March 1st

  1. So exciting! I’ve just started getting into audiobooks and I’m sure your works will do great in that format! Add another vote for Hypothetically Married. (US)

  2. I really enjoyed listening to the excerpt of Ashes to Heiresses. Congratulations! I think Hypothetically Married would be nice in audiobook. If Iโ€™m lucky enough to win, Iโ€™d like a US code, please.

    • We’re glad you like the excerpt. Catherine does an amazing job reading it. You’re likely right about Hypothetically Married, and I really hope we can find a code for you ๐Ÿ™‚ There’s a very good chance ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I love ashes to heiresses (though the beginning was really sad).

I vote for hypothetically Married. I have read and enjoyed. I am about to read your new novellete. I enjoy audiobooks when going to and from work . It helps do away the stress of the day.l. I am from the US.

  4. Congratulations on the audiobook! No need to put me in for code, I prefer to read than listen to stories. Just wanted to say good luck with the new outlet!

  5. I loved the excerpt. Catherine has a wonderful voice and reads your story very well. I have not yet read your other books, but they are on my TBR list. Thanks for the giveaway – I would need a US code. –Leslie

    • Thank you, Leslie. We could take credit for the excerpt, but it’s really Catherine who deserves the credit ๐Ÿ™‚ We have plenty of codes, so I hope, and assume, you’ll get one ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Thank you for this generous giveaway! I would need a US Code for the Audiobook. I have not read Hypothetically Married yet, it is still on my TBR List and I just added Their Secret Love to my TBR List since somehow that book slipped by without my noticing, it sounds really interesting so I am not sure which U would rather hear and would be happy with either.

      • I just finished reading “Their Secret Love: A Pride and Prejudice Variation Novelette” and have posted a review on Goodreads for it. I really enjoyed it (gave it 5 stars) and also shared it with my Mum who loved it as well. I still need to read “Hypothetically Married”.

        • Thank you so much for reading and reviewing Their Secret Love, Chelsea. We’re really happy you enjoyed it ๐Ÿ™‚

Hypothetically Married is a lot of fun. It’s a little silly. Then again, our work is usually lighthearted ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. congrats on the audiobook! I would love to listen to any of them but I’d Love to hear Hypothetically Married! thanks for the chance to win a US code!

  8. Lovely sound bite – Catherine Bilson has such a great voice!
Just bought and read your latest story. As usual, it was great! By the way, glad you didn’t forget the little guy – he fitted perfectly in the cover!
Either story would be wonderful as an audio book. Hope you’re able to get Catherine to do more. Have a feeling her time will be at a premium!

    • Thank you, Patricia ๐Ÿ™‚ And thank you for getting Their Secret Love. We’re glad you enjoyed it.

No need for him to be too sneaky with that cover, is there? He’s a natural!

As to Catherine, I know! I meant to email her last night. I should probably do that right now. I have a suspicion the vote will go in favor of Hypothetically Married, and that will take more of her time than Their Secret Love.

  9. Don’t include me in the giveaway. Although I don’t do audio, I did listen just to hear Catherine’s voice. Yep, you’re right. She did an amazing job. You chose well in the scene to share with us. I was pull right back into the story and I may have to read it again. Excellent. Congratulations on this launch of a new venture for you. I hope it goes well. Many of my friends enjoy audio books. I’m too ADD [or something] to enjoy it. I can hardly walk and chew gum at the same time. LOL!!

    • Thank you so much for your kind words ๐Ÿ™‚

I have to admit, I don’t listen to fiction on audio, only non fiction. With fiction, I like to build it all in my imagination, right down to the voices and inflection.

I really had no idea if anyone would enjoy audio books from us. So far so good, though.

      And Catherine is perfect ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. From Ashes to Heiresses is a wonderful audiobook. I vote for Hypothetically Married as I prefer longer audiobooks and the book is so good! Catherine Bilson is a great narrator.

    • We’re so happy you enjoyed it, Eva ๐Ÿ™‚ Yes, Catherine is amazing! I think the vote will go in favor of Hypothetically Married, yes. It’s our most reviewed book, so I think people like it. It may also be our silliest book, but Catherine will make it sound more erudite for us ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Congratulations on your new audiobook! Looking forward to hearing a wonderful story with Ms. Bilson narrating. I vote for โ€œHypothetically Marriedโ€ as next audiobook since itโ€™s a lovely story.

    • Thank you, Linny! ๐Ÿ™‚ Hypothetically Married is our most reviewed book (I’m waiting eagerly for it to hit 100 reviews…it would be our first!), so I think it’s a good choice.
