I am always amazed by the timelessness of Jane Austen quotes. I find the following especially apt of late:
“There is nothing like employment, active indispensable employment, for relieving sorrow. Employment, even melancholy, may dispel melancholy.”
I’ve been involved in the publishing world for nearly six years. What a rapidly shifting landscape—not just on a year to year or even a month to month basis, but rather week to week.
Which brings me to something else Jane Austen wrote.
“I am not at all in a humor for writing; I must write on till I am.” —Letter to Cassandra Austen, Oct. 26, 1813
That being the case, here’s what I’m writing now.
Insults and Disdain. Intrigue and Desire.
An impertinent stranger gets thrown into Fitzwilliam Darcy’s path, and even though he declares her tolerable but not handsome enough to tempt him, it is all he can do not to think of her. Upon first making Mr. Darcy’s acquaintance, Miss Elizabeth Bennet is quite fascinated with him. Then she discovers that the gentleman is haughty and above his company, and she wants nothing to do with him.
Still, the prospect of spending time in each other’s company is beyond their power to resist. Will Darcy and Elizabeth quit lying to themselves and find in the other what’s been missing in their lives?

Working on two novel length books at once. How’s that for writing on! No promises, but it’s entirely possible that both books will be available even sooner than the announced release dates. In the interim, I have some good news to share. I’ve released a new book bundle titled, Romancing Mr. Darcy.
Here’s the book trailer:
Romancing Mr. Darcy is available for a limited time. If your wish list includes one or more of the best-selling eBooks in this bundle, now’s the time to grab your copy and save a lot.
Here are two things I love: connecting with readers and giveaways. I invite you to comment for a chance to win a signed copy of Impertinent Strangers. One winner will be chosen. A US mailing address is required to receive the paperback. Otherwise, an eBook edition will be awarded to the winner. The giveaway contest ends on Tuesday, May 10th.
The prize will be awarded when the paperback is published in July.
P.S. If you pre-order your copy of Impertinent Strangers, Miss Elizabeth Bennet, or both, hang on to your proof of purchase for a special giveaway that kicks off soon!
