Launch of Mr. Darcy’s Bite
It’s party time again. Please join me in celebrating the launch of Mr. Darcy’s Bite. From the cover, you probably have already figured out that in my Pride and Prejudice re-imagining Mr. Darcy is a werewolf. Here is the text from the back jacket:
Darcy is acting rather oddly. After months of courting Elizabeth Bennet, no offer of marriage is forthcoming, and Elizabeth is first impatient, then frightened. For there is no denying the full moon seems to affect his behavior, and Elizabeth’s love is going to be tested in ways she never dreamed.
Darcy has more than family pride to protect: others of his kind are being hunted all over England. It will take all of Elizabeth’s faith, courage, and ingenuity to overcome her prejudice and join Darcy in a Regency world she never knew existed.
This novel was quite a departure for me. Even though my older daughter is a huge werewolf fan, I knew zippity-do-dah about them. After reading some rather ghoulish tales about werewolves, I decided to go my own way because I could not reconcile Jane Austen’s Mr. Darcy with someone devouring human flesh (even though it tastes like chicken–or so my cannibal neighbor has told me). Besides, my primary objective was to write a love story with lots of tension. The question is: Can Elizabeth Bennet love a man who howls at the moon and stalks deer for two days every month? I hope you will want to find out.
To get this party started, I am giving away one copy of Mr. Darcy’s Bite to those who comment on this post. I am also giving away an ARC copy of Mr. Darcy’s Bite on my own blog. (Double your chances and enter both. Also, I could use your help.) All I ask is that you comment on what you think about a furry, fanged, and four-footed (and very sexy) Mr. Darcy by October 11? Please be sure to leave an e-mail address. This is important. Several people have missed out on past giveaways because I had no way to contact them. This is open to everyone worldwide. The winner will be announced October 12. That’s it. Now, let’s party.

What do I think about a furry, fanged, four-footed (key word-sexy) Darcy??? Mmmm, Mmmm, Mmmm! I think I could overlook his monthly howling at the moon!
Congratulations, Mary! I look forward to seeing what you do with this paranormal!

Hi Becky, I think “Mmmm” says it all. Thanks for stopping by.
Congratulations, Mary. I’m excited that one of my favourite Austenite author and blogger is releasing a new book. I think this is your third major release this year.
I’ve not read at other incarnation of Mr Darcy other than vampire so it’s interesting to see whether he is still the same in essence. Thanks for opening it to worldwide readers.

Thanks, Luthien. I can’t do vampires. Too much blood. But give me a good werewolf.
Mary
Hooray, Mary! Congratulations on a fellow supernatural Austen release! Long may he howl and sell, sell, sell!
Thanks, Vera.
I will take Mr. Darcy anyway I can get him!
I think I could deal with him being a fanged, furry, four-legged creature for two days. after all, he would have to put up with my PMS for much longer.
I’m with you on the PMS. I’ll have to tell you this funny story I heard on Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me (an NPR radio program). Very funny.
Mary, you know I’ve loved this story since you posted it in serial form under a different title. Congratulations on its launch!
Now I must have a bit of pun at your expense.
Your Darcy howls at the moon and stalks deer for two days every month. Well, what if Elizabeth turned into a deer during the full moon? Would she be a … weredoe?
And if your Darcy played the pianoforte very ill, would his Bach be worse than his bite?
OK. I’ll stop now.
Joanne, You are gold mine of funny puns. Weredo. Yes, she would be a weirdo, and Darcy’s Bach is much worse than his bite. But his bite is more fun.
I would really like to have a chance to read about furry, fanged and four-footed Mr. Darcy. It sounds rather exciting!

Congrats Mary! You have been on busy lady this year! (And I hope you had a great birthday!)
Joanne – your puns are great!
Thanks, Kara.
Congratulations! Sounds like a great read…I love a good paranormal tale mix in Darcy/Elizabeth it just gets better
Thanks, Stephanie. If you want to enter the giveaway, pls stop back with your e-mail address.
Sounds terrific, Mary! I’m looking forward to reading it.
Thanks, Abigail.
Congrats on your release, Mary!!!!!
.
And I am absolutely fascinated by the prospect of a furry & fanged Darcy
This all started as a lark–a short story for Halloween. Thanks for stopping by.
Congratulations on the new release! It’s great that you are brave enough to try a new genre of JA. I think of all her characters in her books Austen’s bad guys, Mr. Darcy, Captain Wentworth, and Colonel Brandon strike me as excellent monster-y types who would still have romantic appeal.
Thanks for an opportunity for a giveaway!

Hi Sundee. You’re right. All those guys would make excellent monsters, esp. vampires.
Wow…a furry Darcy! Nice and warm on those cold Pemberley winter nights!
Congratulations Mary! I’ve loved this story since I first saw it and I’m glad to see the release of the book! Can’t wait to do a re-read!
Thanks, Sandy. You are the best.
Furry and fanged?! Yummy, bring it on!
My biggest obsessions are Jane Austen and Paranormal Romance, combining the two would be my cup of tea and chocolate cake!
Also, I think Henry Tinley and Willoughby would be perfect vampire like heroes! Mmmhh, I’ll have to fan myself after imagining them
Hi Laura. I’m reaching for my fan as well. Thanks for stopping by.
I’m not into the paranormal very much, but I loved this story when I read it chapter by chapter while it was a WIP. I encourage everyone to read this terrific story. This Darcy has some real convincing to do in order to have Elizabeth’s love….even more than in canon.
Hi Rae! Thanks for stopping by. Mary
I would never have imagined Mr. Darcy this way but now that you mention it……it sounds very interesting! The whole paranormal aspect lends a very different sort of view or perhaps explains his rude behavior. I can’t imagine what Mrs. Bennett thinks! lol! Thank you for the giveaway!

Thanks, Margaret, for stopping by. Mary
I’ll take Darcy almost any way I can get him, and I love the idea of him as a werewolf! The cool thing about these kinds of myths being so varied now is you can kinda make your own rules but still fit in (like with the not eating human flesh thing – although I wouldn’t mind seeing him take a chunk out of Wickham’s butt Lol).
So he is a werewolf, who only changes during his cycle
and not a shape-shifter, who can change at will? I really can’t wait to see Lizzy’s reaction.
I’m still giggling at Joanne’s weredoe. Happy launch day!
mpgottaloveme@aol.com
Monica, “Wickham’s Butt.” Too funny. Now that I think of it, this is an excellent way to reduce the size of my butt, and I get to meet Mr. Darcy.
I love dogs…Congratulations on your release and I will see you soon in Ft. Worth!
Mary, sincere congratulations on your release of Mr. Darcy’s Bite! I know it was riddled with delays and am so happy to see it’s finally arrived. It’s long been a favorite of mine. (I’ll have to hunt him down in my local B&N – maybe tomorrow!)
Best,
Susan
i’m gonna be a big brave girl & read Mr Darcy’s Bite; you guessed it, i’ve yet to read this style of book!!!
congrats & good luck to you on Mr Darcy’s Bite; i’m sure it will be GREAT!!!!
Cyn, Be brave.
Seriously, it’s a love story–with complications–and fur.
Congratulations Mary! I am so happy for you! And what a leap. Moving from your normal sexy Darcy stories to a furry sexy Darcy. Wow!
Wishing you the best of luck with this release.
Thank you Sharon, Susan, and Carey. I appreciate your stopping by.
Congrats again Mary. Looking forward to reading about a furry Darcy, just hoping he is not drool too much. I’ll have to scoot over to your blog to try for another chance to win too!

This looks absolutely FABULOUS! I love Animals, I love Darcy! Always thought Darcy was quite ‘Wolfish’ in P&P! Can’t wait to get my teeth into this one!
Congrats on publishing something new and original!
I think a vampire Darcy is a wonderful hot Mr. Darcy – I wouldn’t’ mind being an immortal with a Vampire Mr. Darcy
