And the Reader’s Choice story will be…

P&PRC_badgered2The poll has closed, and the readers have chosen.  With 179 votes counted, the P&P Reader’s Choice story scenario will be…

The Bennet Brother

Elizabeth has an older, very protective brother. Returning to Hertfordshire after a time away, he is not pleased to learn of his favorite sister being insulted by Mr. Darcy! Will he confront the emotionally-conflicted Darcy? Does Lizzy’s brother know Mr. Darcy, or has he heard rumors of him? Or perhaps vice versa? And what about this mysterious brother, anyway?

The first post will be on January 30, and it’ll be by me, so I’d better get cracking!

 This is very exciting. Yes I did technically vote for number 3 but it was a hard decision. I cannot wait to see what you come up with. And who writes next? I’m on the edge of my seat here.

    • Cassie Grafton says:

I voted for number 3 too, but this one sounds equally fun! Can’t wait to read the first instalment, Abigail.

    • I think I might be the next one up…I am waiting to see if the young Mr. Bennet will give Darcy a leveller and draw some claret (boxing cant for those who have not read Georgette Heyer!)

  • Marilyn Brant says:

This is going to be so fun, Abigail!! Looking forward to seeing how you start off our new story… ;)

  • Jakki L. says:

Yippee! I was hoping this one would win! This is a premise that I have rarely, if ever, read about! Oh, I am super excited to see where this story is going to go! Can’t wait!

  • Katrin W says:

  • Lúthien84 says:

Although it’s not my first choice, I’m hoping the story will be good. Looking forward to the 30th.

  • Yay! This one was my favorite! :) Can’t wait to read, Abigail!

  • YES! I was hoping this one would win! Can’t wait to read Abigail’s post and vote again! Love this project!

  • I am excited to be a part of this experiment, as well.

  • Lisa S says:

Woo hoo! This is the one I voted for. I’m certain they all would have been great but I’m particularly excited about this premise. With a brother, will E still be Mr B’s favorite? He has a son so who knows. Maybe the son came last and E got all of that attention till this wonderful surprise came later in life for the Bennets. Or maybe the son was first, and with beautiful Jane second, E ended up being raised more like Mary, as the forgotten middle sister. Or maybe E and this son are twins. Now that would be cool. Twins who do EVERYthing together. Awesome. Will Longbourn be more prosperous? Not only does Mr B have a reason to keep up the estate but, if his son is old enough, that’s a second set of eyes invested in the land and preparing for the future. Whatever the case, the Bennets are the primary landholders in the area and quite well off and, with a son, will remain so for all their lives. Will Mrs B be less marriage crazed — maybe a bit more balanced and sane? Maybe Darcy and/or Bingley are university friends?? Maybe Bennet brought them to Longbourn to check out his sisters (lol — he could be the matchmaker, wanting to get his sisters out of the house before he can marry). OK, I’m gonna shut up now. But yeah, this story has so many possibilities. I can’t wait. :)

    • Good thoughts, Lisa! A lot of people seem to think that a son would mean less need for the sisters to marry, but the way I look at it, that only applies in terms of taking care of their mother. Longbourn supports Mr. & Mrs. Bennet and their five daughters with nothing extra to save. If the son hopes to marry and have children of his own, he’s got to be hoping he won’t have to support all his sisters as well. So I’m with you that the son is going to want to get the sisters married off. As to where he comes in the family… well, you’ll have to wait for January 30th to find out!

    Nine more sleeps…can’t wait!

  • rae says:

This wasn’t my pick but anything written by Abigail will give this story a terrific start. I have read a couple stories with a Bennet brother and it can go in any number of directions. Can’t wait to see which road Abigail points the journey down.

It would take a little stress off Mrs. B’s nerves too though!
